path that Micah knew better than the back of his

of bushes and trees. Slipping past the first one at

an acute angle, he stepped into the well-hidden

entrance. No one would know it was there. In fact

Connor called him back to show him where it was.

Stepping inside the entrance to the tunnels was

like stepping back in time. He and Joseph would

play here when they were younger, until the more

serious business of life got in the way. Hours and

hours they would spend here pouring over old

diaries from grandparents going back so many

generations it was near impossible to comprehend.

The Sinclair family was an old, established family

and the only two left now were him and Joseph.

Taking the name Jamieson in the City and hiding

who he was had felt like losing a connection to

that rich history.

“We can stay here for a while,” Micah said

softly.

“How long?”

“Couple of hours until dark.”

“So tell me about your great-great-whatever-

grandma,” Connor said as he arranged himself

cross-legged on the floor and leaned against the

wall opposite to Micah. Six feet and the semi-

darkness in the tunnel gave the illusion of night

and invited secrets.
